How to get AWS server for free

* How to get AWS server for free?

Many of us don't have a credit card, and pre-paid cards are not accepted in Google cloud nor Microsoft Azure.

But luckily most of Android developers are students, and that's how we are going to get free AWS server and a $150 promo code!

First you have to go to "GitHub Education" and apply for the student pack, you have to prove that you are a student by applying with an email issued from your school or university, but if your school/university doesn't issue email addresses for students, you don't have to worry, just take a clear picture of your school/university ID showing your status, and use it in registration.

That was pretty easy, you will receive an acceptance email in less than 24 hours for your application, I applied at night before I sleep and when I woke up I found the email in my inbox.

Next, open the mail you received, and choose your pack, click on Amazon and register for Amazon Educate, you have to prove that you are a student here too, using the same previous method, if Amazon server didn't accept your application, you have to contact support and attach a picture of your ID too.

Some tips:

1. You can use pre-paid cards with Amazon server and get 12 months free trail.
2. If you are Egyptian, you can create and use Egypt national bank (البنك الأهلي) pre-paid card for youth, it will cost you 15 EGP only.
3. I have followed the instruction to apply in Amazon Educate using my already created AWS account, if you don't have any pre-paid card to create an account, choose the second option in Amazon Educate, but I can't help you with details about it. (Update: You must be a card holder).
4. When you create an instance you have to mount the SSD hard disk you created, because the instance has 8 GB hard disk only, not sufficient for Android developing.
5. Don't keep the instance running while you are not using it or it will exhaust your credit.
6. Make sure to finish your work before you stop the instance, because anything on external hard disk will be removed when you stop it.
